Primary Mission:
The Technical Director is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and overseeing the technical programs of the squash federation. They ensure the scheduling of sanctioned competitions, the development of coaches and officials, as well as the supervision of provincial teams and elite athletes.
Main Responsibilities:
Training and Certification
- Oversee committees for the development of coaches and officials
- Implement training programs for coaches and officials (NCCP, officiating)
- Ensure the maintenance of coaching certification standards
- Support clubs in professionalizing their technical staff
- Build a roster of instructors to offer squash training for various programs managed by Squash Québec
Planning and Coordination
- Establish a one-day tournament circuit in as many regions of Québec as possible
- Plan provincial competitions and training camps
- Develop the annual sports calendar
- Collaborate with other departments of the Fédération des Sports à 4 Murs (communication, development)
Elite Support
- Liaise with the Elite Development Manager
- Supervise and support athletes identified with elite potential
External Relations
- Represent the federation with Squash Canada, provincial sports authorities, clubs, and partners
- Manage grant applications related to performance
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- University degree in kinesiology, sports management, or a related field (an asset)
- Relevant experience in squash coaching or technical management in a sport
- NCCP Provincial Level Certification (or equivalent), or willingness to obtain it quickly
- Excellent skills in planning, communication, and management
- Leadership, autonomy, and the ability to work as part of a team
- Proficiency in French and English
Working Conditions:
- Salary: based on experience and the federation’s budget
- Flexible schedule with availability required during evenings or weekends for events
- Occasional travel required
